Case Study #1 - The Lake

Nature doesn’t always serve up perfect skies – we get a lot of gray, overcast days. In thiscase study, Local Adjustments tame the brighter, overcast tones to better suit the sceneoverall. Also, a pair of adjustments craft a vignette that can’t be made with the Vignette tool in Effects!

Case Study #2 - The Bonfire

This case study explores color tone and detail. Local Adjustments boost detail in the subject and balance the natural warm/cool color palette of the scene. Leveraging the Blending Options make the masking work faster and easier.

Case Study #3 - The Lighthouse

In this case study, the photo’s subject is obvious but applying Local Adjustments makes it really pop! It’s not just about treating the subject with Locals. Apply adjustments to the supporting elements of a photo are equally important to emphasize the subject.

Case Study #4 - The Cathedral

In this case study, a series of Local Adjustments add depth and guide the viewer’s eye into the scene. The adjustments made are simple yet the result they produce are powerful. Locals don’t need to be complex to be effective.

Case Study #5 - The Waterfall

Waterfalls are a favorite subject for landscape photographers. Local Adjustments assist us to strike the right balance on the falls and create crisp yet smooth fingers of water. This case study also explores two methods for dodging and burning using Local Adjustments.

Case Study #6 - The Forest Pathway

Compelling images are about feeling and emotion. In this final case study, a series of local Adjustments selectively shape temperature, tone, and detail that refine the mood and add a touch of mystery to the scene.
