A response is needed. I looked at Stability AI and am totally confused. The least on1 could do is give some guidance on the many choices Stability AI offers. . In my 8 years of using on1 this is the 1st time they have not been upfront. Good thing I still have Photoshop to expand the canvas.

However, it sounds to me if you want AI on 2025 it is going to cost you. I didn’t realize this on purchase of On1 2025 and as far as I can tell On1 has never promoted tokens for sale. This is straight up fraudulent sales and I will be asking for my refund ASAP.

In the available videos, they seem to use the on-device option for the less complex issues, but they select stability AI for the others. But they never say why they’re choosing one or the other. It looks like they’re being a little too cagey about this.

Nor has there been any discussion of the relative speed between the options, how much the Stability AI will cost per image/per correction, what to do if Stability AI does not result in a satisfactory edit (free re-dos? additional charge for each try?).

BUT
I was hoping to use this generative crop after I have used transform and do not want to lose certain details as a result of the process eg after taking panoramas and transform.
I presume this would be a lot easier?
Would it automatically need the web though?
I take the point about customers needing to comply with competition rules and so we MUST know the devil in the detail here please.

This is a bit off topic but why are (usually scantily clad) women invariable used as models for the demos? Can we have a bit of balance please? Thanks!

Did you try viewing it on YouTube?

In both this and the other example, the options “Stability AI” was chosen, which would (I assume) be done using a cloud service.

“I would be interested in seeing how the local generative crop feature works on an image like this (i.e. not using Stability AI)”

I got a reply from ON1 “We ran some tests using the local model and did get acceptable results after 1 or 2 tries.”. But I have not seen any examples.

I would like to see some comparative examples showing both “Stability AI” and “Local Gen AI”,.

This is VERY important for anyone entering photo contests. Many photo contests permit the use of editing features that are completely locally done – things like the Prefect Eraser and other “content aware” fill tools. The distinction is that allowed tools use content in the original image to fill in an area with similar material. But they ban the use of “generative fill” tools that fill in using content that never existed in your photo. Tools that allow (for example) you to say “fill in this area with a dog” when there is no dog in your original image are not permitted.

There are image tags that have been developed to flag use of the generative fill tools using content not in the original image as the source. No word from ON1 whether these tags are being used.

When I click on it to view, I get a message that I should sign in. I am signed in. Even clicking on the video to run in the video library, I still get the same message about signing in. What gives??
