I search to this course when I stated to watch your course on composition.

However the link proposed in your answer does point to atslinks (which is a great source of information) but I did not see the raw files to practice. I am wondering if the link is outdated or if I should buy the course “Approaching The Scene – Core Course, for ON1” on your web site to get them. By the description on your web site, it looks like the content is the same, except form the availability of the raw files.

I hope it is not too late to ask such question as the course is getting old, but the concepts have not changed that much since 2018.

Thanks in advance for your answer, Hervé.

Thanks for the course. Very informative. During the course, you said several times that you will have a file with the link to all gears used in this course. I can’t find this file. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Ken

I’ve been scrambling to get ready for a workshop in Michoacan and got a bit delayed in replying… Here are a few tips to try out.
-don’t set up the tripod before you move around with the camera watching the live view (or use your cell phone)
-as you move around play with the organization of foreground and background elements in the frame
-make your foreground objects bold and large in the frame and look for lines that lead the viewers eye into the most interesting part of the scene
-live view helps with composition so much. Think of a movie director zipping all over the scene looking through a framing viewfinder
-Keep an eye out for good light and if it’s in a limited part of the scene, go with a longer lens and zoom in on it.
IT’s easier to teach this stuff in person and on location, but I hope those tips help a bit and you have a great shoot!

I’ve visited Bodie several times over the years and have always come home with okay captures, far from jaw dropping, but okay. I’ll be visiting again this week, but nervous because I rarely have the time to travel and really want to come home with at least a few really nice shots.
I’ve been shooting since about ’85 and have always struggled in capturing good composition. I’ve been told all the “rules”, but feel I’ve simply never had an eye for seeing strong composition when in the field. If I’ve captured a truly successful composition I’ve considered it just a fluke among the hundreds of shots I’ve taken. Sort of like picking black on a roulette wheel, it’s bound to come up black eventually. Or maybe the lines or what have you have stood out so strong that no one could miss it.
I’ve rarely read any articles or even found any videos on shooting natural landscapes combined with architecture. If any have come close they never seem to discuss in detail, how to achieve a strong composition. Could you provide me a few pointers to remember when I’m out on this weeks shoot.
If it matters, I’ll be shooting with a Sony A7II, Canon 17-40 F/4, Canon 70-200 f/4 and Sony 24-70 f/4. I also plan on using your focus blending technique posted on YT in ’16.
Thanks,
Tony
