This is Hudson Henry’s course on composition. …in fact, I was out today in the rain trying out some concepts. Too bad they don’t make a mini-umbrella for the camera lens to keep it dry!

I have never been able to simplify the detail in the scene to showcase what really captures my attention, or to show the scale of the trees. As I was listening to your course I would go back and try again, and I have to tell you, it is not easy to see the lines, triangles and lead-ins to the image. I am going to keep trying, using your examples as a model to develop that ability to see.
I also live oceanside and am looking forward to trying your techniques there as well.
I am also going to give your apps (or similar) a try; I never could figure out the Photographer Ephemeris but think I’ll give that another go after watching you use it.
….so thank you Hudson, for a wonderful and well-thought out course.
Pat

Thanks for another inspiring course! I look forward to and thoroughly enjoy all of your offerings.

Comment/request… In future courses, it would be great to see more of the settings you’ve used to capture images. Not looking for a discussion of the settings. Your explanations of the creative process are very useful in developing an eye for how to look at things in the scene. However, it would certainly be helpful to better understand your technical approach by getting a glimpse of your settings.

Thanks again. Your work is awesome!

Each viewer reacts differently. If we’re talking about the image I think we are, it’s one of my most popular prints. It’s actually on the wall of the ON1 offices 8 feet wide. It’s a panorama with a lot of detail and it may hit the mark better when viewed bigger. For me the foreground rock works perfectly and I’m proud of it, but it’s interesting to hear a divergent viewpoint and we all see things differently. That’s one of my favorite parts about the workshop experiences I’m so blessed to have with other photographers. We all learn from one another’s perspectives in our daily image review sessions. Thanks for the comment.

I really appreciate your comments so much.

It’s funny with the 4k vs 1080p issues. I worried the 4k might be too much for many downloaders. I really don’t see an appreciable increase in quality between 1080 and 4k unless I’m viewing on a huge screen. I tend to shoot everything in 4k and downrez it to 1080p before uploading both for Plus and YouTube. I’m glad we’ve got it all sorted now though. 🙂
