I’m a fan of the Curves Filter for quick editing and it’s capabilities with contrast. If you’re into music, I like to think of the Tone Curve as your EQ for your photo. You can pinpoint certain tones and modify them in any way you want. You could achieve similar looks with the Tone Enhancer Filter (it actually has the Tone Curve in it). I would recommend playing with filters and Blend Modes and you’ll find ones that work great with certain ones. 2. So with another layer, you can modify the Tone & Color and add local adjustments, etc. It’s more so just another way to do the same thing, with a little more room to modify/edit. I like Blend Modes on Filters for quick editing but if you really wanna dig into a photo you can use another layer to modify the Develop Tab, Effects Tab, as well as the Local Tab on that Blending Layer.

I enjoyed this course very much. This is more helpful to me than most material that has come out lately. It opens another door for me that I so far couldn’t figure out how to utilize. Thank you!

1. I notice you usually add the curves filter when applying a blend mode even though not adjusting the curve, could any of the other filters be used to achieve the same effect, just curious why you usually pick the curves filter to apply the blend mode instead of say dynamic contrast or tone enhancer.

2. In some examples you use a duplicate layer to apply a blend mode, when is it better to use a duplicate layer instead of applying the blend mode to a filter?
